The Farewell consists of a plot that involves a culturally-rooted story involving themes on social identity, grief, and the difference in values a migrant struggle within contrast to their country of origin.The portrayal of the lead character Billi ( loosely based on Wang) played by talented Awkwafina even led to her big win at the 2020 Golden Globes.

Is The Farewell On Netflix?
The answer to this is a big NO and in fact, Netflix actually tried to buy the distribution rights to The Farewell after it premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2019. But, A24 was able to secure the deal for $7 million and still the streaming giant hasn’t yet bought streaming rights to the movie.
Instead, The Farewell is available to stream at 4K quality on Amazon Prime video and can be viewed on HD quality on Kanopy. Apart from these services, you have the option to rent or stream Wang’s movie on the following platforms: Vudu, Apple TV, Google Play, YouTube, DirectTV, Microsoft Store, Spectrum On Demand, and Redbox. However, prices vary depending on which service you wish to pay with Amazon Prime Video being the reasonable one.
