According to BBC Hindi, he passed away at 7.30 am on Wednesday. Dilip Kumar’s official Twitter handle has also informed that he has passed away. The information was given by Kumar’s family friend Faisal Farooqi. Expressing grief over the demise of Dilip Kumar, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it was a great loss for the cultural sector.

Dilip Kumar was admitted to the hospital on June 6 due to respiratory problems. Known as ‘Tragedy King’. He has acted in hit films like ‘Mughale Azam’, ‘Devadas’, ‘Naya Daur’, ‘Ram Aur Shyam’, ‘Ganga-Jamuna’ and ‘Saudagar’. He was last seen in the movie ‘Qila’ in 1998.
He was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 1991 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016, India’s second highest civilian honor. He also received the Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 1995. In 1997, he was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, the highest civilian honor by the Pakistani government. He had sought permission from the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to accept the honor.
