The year 2021 is bringing on a lot of innovation in the world of technology. One of that being the introduction of 5G technology in smartphones.
As we reach the midpoint of 2021, there is some interesting analysis from Strategy Analytics. The reports showcase that global 5G smartphone sales will surge 1,300 percent making shipment soar up to 134 million in Q1 2021.
Similarly, the leading companies for 5G phone sales since January-March saw Samsung and Vivo grab the leaderboard. Samsung grew by 79% with 17 million shipments whereas Vivo had a 62% growth with 19.4 million.
This company has shown the most improvement from Q4 2020. But Apple is still at the top when it comes to total shipments with 40.4 million.
The reason however for the companies like Samsung and Vivo were the incredible demands of their phones. The Galaxy S21 series was most demanded across South Korea, the US, and parts of Europe.
Also, Vivo saw solid sales across China and Europe along with Xiaomi and Oppo. So the market in general for 5G smartphones saw a growth of 6% on a per quarter basis. Keeping that in consideration the Strategic Analytics predicts 624 million 5G devices shipment by the end of 2021.
